On a recent hike in Dakeng scenic area, some little creatures were kind enough to let me get close and take their pictures, with my cell phone.

Typhoon Morakot: More Damage
Dakeng Scenic area took quite a beating during the recent typhoon, it seems. Impressively, though, Taichung City has already built new sections of the trail to bypass those that were damaged, just a week or two prior, to there photos being taken.

Dakeng Scenic Area Walking Trails
Spent an hour or two hiking around Dakeng Scenic Area with a mate last week. Dakeng is a mountainous area to the east of Taichung (see map), and has been rigged with a whole bunch of well maintained walking trails. It's a great place to go to get out of the city, and if the weather is good, you can get an excellent elevated view of the Taichung metropolis.
